The fourth Chinese Documentary Film Festival, an annual event dedicated to promoting Chinese-language documentaries worldwide, concluded its three-day run in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, on Monday.
This year's top honor, the Golden Seagull Awards, was presented across two main categories, encompassing a total of 10 awards selected from 40 documentaries. An additional award was established to recognize outstanding contributions from documentary production institutions.
Among the winners was Mountains and Rivers Bearing Witness, the first documentary to present a panoramic account of the Chinese people's 14-year struggle during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). The film earned two honors — Most Recommended Cultural and Historical Work and Most Recommended Director.
