The 38th China Film Golden Rooster Awards will be announced in Xiamen, Fujian province, in mid-November, with six domestic blockbusters, including The Litchi Road and Her Story, competing for Best Picture, one of the top honors.
Ne Zha 2, the highest-grossing Chinese film of all time, is nominated for Best Animated Feature, along with five other contenders, such as the fantasy anthology Curious Tales of a Temple and the lion dance-themed sequel I Am What I Am 2.
The Best Foreign Language Film shortlist features five international titles: F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt, Here led by Tom Hanks, Italian actress Paola Cortellesi's directorial debut There's Still Tomorrow, the comedy How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies from Thailand, and I'm Still Here, a Brazil-France co-production.
