Himid currently has an exhibition of pieces created since the 1980s at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing. The ongoing exhibition, Lubaina Himid, runs until April 27.
In it, she unfolds a re-imagined world grounded in her multifaceted identity, and enriched with the experience of living and working on different continents.
Himid was born in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and now lives and works in Preston, England.
