大 Dà

big

“大”字像一個(gè)為正面站著的頂天立地的男人。他張開(kāi)雙臂。叉開(kāi)雙腿，十分威武。中國(guó)人覺(jué)得，世界上“大”的東西有三樣：提案，地和人自己，“大人”就是“成年人”的意思。

Dà zì xiàng yí gè zhèng miàn zhàn zhe de dǐng tiān lì di de nán rén. tā zhāng kāi shuāng bì, chā kāi shuāng tuǐ, shí fēn wēi fēng. Zhōng góu rén jué dé, shì jìe shàng dà de dōng xi yǒu sān yàng: tiān ,dì hē rén zì jǐ, dà rén jiù shì chéng nián rén de yì si.

The character "da" looks like a standing man of gigantic stature. His outstretched arms and straddled legs give him an awe-inspiring appearance. Chinese people believe that there are three things in the world that can be described as big: heaven, earth and oneself. Today, "da ren" (literally big person) mean "adult."
