Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year's event was moved online with forums, workshops and free shows.
The 10 winning scripts cover a diversity of genres, including traditional Chinese opera, theater and contemporary plays. The themes of the scripts reflect the younger generation's lives and their observations on social changes.
Organized by the Beijing Theatre Association and Chaoyang District Cultural Center, the annual festival attracted over 25,000 students from 1,100 universities in China. Nearly 300 theatrical productions have been staged over the past 19 years.
